This is a wheel thrown, wood fired stoneware lidded jar. You can use it for anything you like, though my intention was for it to be used in Japanese tea ceremony. It would be called a "mizusashi" which means "water jar".

This piece was fired in a wood kiln to 2350°F. The outside is unglazed and features natural wood ash deposits. Salt was also added to the kiln, which helped create a smooth glossy surface on the unglazed clay. The inside is glazed white.

The jar is about 6" wide and 6" high. It holds more than 32 ounces.

It's microwave and dishwasher safe, but I recommend hand washing so you can enjoy the feel of the cup. I guess that may sound odd to someone not obsessed with pottery, but if you spend enough time appreciating the shape and feel of this cup, perhaps you will become obsessed.
