Hard to find, vintage Mr. Potato Head Picnic Pals. Collectible toy, great addition to any toy collection or gift for dad, gift for him!

This was Daniel's toy as a child. It is not a complete set...he said he remembers mustaches and they are no longer there...possibly other missing pieces we aren't aware of. In addition, this IS NOT a toy for little ones. There are sharp pieces, small pieces and pointy pieces. This was manufactured long before the guidelines were as comprehensive as they are now.

The Potato Head Picnic Pals were very innovative, somewhat bizarre, and far less known than the Tooty Fruity Friends. These fun food-based pals seemed to be inspired by one of the 1960’s fastest growing businesses...fast food! The new characters included Willy Burger, Frenchy Fry, and Franky Frank. Each of these Picnic Pals also had a companion “side item” character ...Mr. Ketchup Head, Mr. Mustard Head, and Mr. Soda Pop Head. In addition to the bizarre new heads, new face pieces were introduced. There were ketchup and mustard colored eyes and ears, and a whole set of onion and pickle shaped face features!

The Picnic pals were sold in individual sets that included Mr. Potato Head, one of the main picnic pals, and a companion “side item” such as the mustard or ketchup. They were also available as a complete set in the much rarer Picnic Pals playset # 4765.

From this era, the Picnic Pals are a quite obscure spinoff line, not well known today and difficult to locate. Made for one year only, 1966, the Picnic Pals sets are a bit rarer than other sets.

Willy Burger has a few pieces stuck in him which could be drilled out but we'll leave that to you!

This wonderfully weird and retro toy comes in its original box which does have some writing on it...hey, it was actually Daniel's toy long before he thought he'd be selling it on etsy.

This is not a new piece, a reproduction or a decorator piece. This is an actual vintage piece that has seen use. It is not in perfect condition. We always strive to have our pictures do the talking by giving you as much visual information as possible...as if you're actually holding the piece in your hands. We are not experts and while we will always try to describe any flaws or damage we see, but some things may go unnoticed or maybe we don't recognize them as flaws. It is never our intent to deceive so please feel free to convo us at any time and ask questions. Finally, pieces like this often come with their share of dust, rust or as we affectionately call it, patina! We know that often the natural state is preferred so we never polish or clean these items beyond a light dusting or wiping.
