The American Heritage History of Flight
by The Editors of American Heritage - The Magazine of History
American Heritage Publishing Co., Inc.
Simon & Schuster, Inc.
Copyright 1962

"Once he got going, man took only half of this century to flutter off the earth and up to the portals of space. In the spectacular process of that victory, one of his oldest dreams came suddenly true - so suddenly, indeed, that it is still a little hard to grasp as an accomplished chapter of history: a chapter that has enormously enlarged and changed man's view of himself and his universe for all time to come.
The AMERICAN HERITAGE HISTORY OF FLIGHT sets down this chapter of phenomenal achievement, start to finish, as a consistent and magnificently illustrated story."

This book of historical insight into flight includes eyewitness testimony and eyewitness photos in the following chapters:

Chapters:
The Wonder of Wings
Ballooning
Learning to Fly
Off We Go!
World War I
The Twenties
The Thirties
World War II
Allied Triumph
Postwar
