Vintage Rhinestone Brooch - Pastel Green Enamel Starburst Brooch with Aurora Borealis coated Rhinestones
This is an absolutely gorgeous aurora borealis rhinestone starburst brooch - or a snowflake brooch, if you prefer. In fact, photo four shows it with my original starburst brooch, made in white enamel, with ab rhinestones of several pastel shades. They are not identical, but oh, so close. (the white enamel pin has sold, I am on the search for another)
This lovely pin, 2" across, showcases 37 rhinestones, one is the large 3/8" ab stone in the center, surrounded by ab coated stones that reflect blue, pink, green and a sort of peach yellow.
Unlike the white enamel brooch it resembles, all of the rhinestones, in both large and medium size, are the same color, I believe it is champagne, and the ab reflects that same color, but the very nature of aurora borealis coating causes reflections in numerous colors. All of this beauty is prong set in pastel green enamel-covered gold toned metal, which has held up well despite its age. As is expected with this sort of vintage pin, the green enamel has worn off one or two of the prongs, but it is so subtle, I looked at it 5 or 6 times before I saw anything but rhinestones! As noted in the final photo, the enamel has started to wear off the locking pin back. But this brooch is in excellent vintage condition, it should get lots of appreciative glances for many years more!
I have photographed this brooch on two different colors of silk noil, also called raw silk. It is a nubby and rich fabric, but does not fight for attention - so here you see the subtle changes when you place the pin on a garment of lavender and on eggplant. It looks equally gorgeous on black, the fourth photo shows both the green and the white ab pin on a background of black linen. This is a clean, sparkling, breathtaking unsigned beauty, in excellent vintage condition.
