- How to create your own flexible rubber mold

No prior skills are needed for this lesson, though I do recommend you begin with a commercial or homemade push mold—later in the lessons I will show you how to create your own face and push mold, but it is easiest to start with a premade face mold if you are new to face cabs!

This guide is 59 pages long with over 100 full-color photos! The descriptions will walk you through every part of making face cabs--from molding the cab, altering, sculpting and coloring it, to creating your own molds—a full cycle of face cab mania ;]. You can print out select pages or the entire document--it is up to you!

Use these faces to create your own art dolls—create masks for cloth dolls, or use the faces in your ornaments, collage, jewelry or assemblage.

All lessons will be released upon purchase. Please let me know which email address you would like the files sent to and whether you need files sent separately (for email accounts with smaller attachment limits). If you need any support during your project, I will be just an email away!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a ‘Face Cab?’
- Cab stands for ‘cabochon.’ These are flat-backed faces perfect for collage, assemblage, jewelry, altered art, affixing to dolls etc. Don’t want a flat face? Simply add more clay to the back of the face to create a head shape.

Can I sell the faces/molds I make?
- Yes! You can make a profit off the faces and molds you learn to create in this workshop! Heck, if you make and sell just a few of the faces you create, you’ll have made your workshop money back! The only limitation I have on these workshops lies with the workshop lessons themselves—you may not sell or redistribute the workshop text, worksheets and images without my consent.

What kind of clay should I use for this project?
- Any polymer clay you are comfortable with. I prefer to use Prosculpt because it is easy to smooth and sculpt with. Premo and Kato clays are also excellent choices! If you just want to learn and not spend a whole lot on clay, Super Sculpey in the big green and white box is an economical way to go.

How can I know this workshop will be awesome?
- These workshops are 100% developed by me, Jessica Hamilton. I have been teaching art workshops at national and private retreats for the last 6 years—I even taught on an episode of DIY’s” Craft Lab.” I have a bachelor of science in fine art and a master’s in technical writing—I love teaching and I love to research, experiment and write workshops!! Here are some nice things clients are saying about my PDF workshops:

“I would like to thank you for an excellent project. There is so much detail, real step by step process and enough info to make a wonderful [project]. I have now read through the whole thing and can't wait to start.”

“The "booklets" are fantastic. Well written and the pictures are a real help and not the typical "fluff" people seem to feel the need to stuff in their directions.”

“Hi Jessica, your instructions are well written and quite easy to follow.. I am happy w my purchase.”

“I just finally finished [printing] the class tutorial. WOW what a ton of work you do on this class. Just wanted you to know how appreciated it is. And I love the fact that my next [project] will be so much better because of it.”

“This workshop has been one of the best I've taken… Jessica is a fantastic teacher and the project is so much fun.”
