Anne of Green Gables Doll Y Richardson Irwin 1989

Anne of Green Gables doll designed by Canadian artist Yvonne Richardson and made by Irwin Toys 1989.
Anne is the heroine of LM Montgomery’s famous Anne of Green Gables stories set in Avonlea on Prince Edward Island in Canada.
Anne is well loved for her strength of character and endearing charm. An orphan sent to live with an elderly farm family who were expecting a boy to help with the chores.
With her forthright speech and mischievous ways she soon wins her way into the hearts of the couple as well as the community.
Her story has been told not only in books that have been translated into many foreign languages but also in the television series.
This 19” tall vinyl and cloth doll is made to represent Anne Shirley and entitled “Arriving at the Station”.
The doll has a stuffed cloth body with vinyl forearms and legs below the knees. A vinyl head with rooted bright red hair in pigtails, green inset green eyes, moulded facial features, pale pink lips and a liberal sprinkling of freckles.
Anne is dressed in a green cotton print dress with a plain green pinafore tied at the back with black ribbons and worn over ecru pantaloons. On her feet she wears black cotton knit stockings under black vinyl boots that fasten on the side with Velcro.
On her head she wears a straw hat with a brown ribbon.
The doll is marked on the neck R&D Macdonald / Yvonne Richardson / c 1989/ Anne / of Green Gables.
Add this wonderful storybook character to your collection.
The doll is in excellent clean, gently handled condition, I would say it is un-played with mainly displayed. The doll and clothes are undamaged and unmarked.
