"Salads have an important place in the daily diet not only because they furnish the essential mineral salts, phosphorus, iron, calcium, magnesium and lime which are necessary for health , but also because they add variety and color to a meal. Homemakers should serve salads made of crisp leafy greens, fresh fruits, young tender vegetables, raw and cooked and blended with a well-seasoned and appetizing dressing , as an essential part of a balanced meal."

So begins this cookbook from the post WWII era. The cloth covered book cover has some stains and shows wear in the corners.
The pages are all securely fastened to the spiral binding. The paper is slightly yellowed and shows some stains, particularly on favorite recipes. There is one color photograph in each section.

As with most vintage books, this book has been well read and loved so some visible wear is to be expected.
