Here is an adorable primitive composition doll from the 1920's - 1930's era. Note the short somewhat crudely made arms, stationary head on shoulderplate, and a straw filled cloth body - all are signs of the age of this doll. Although she does have expected signs of wear associated with her age, she looks too good for her age, so someone has obviously done a little restorative makeover - and a pretty good job at that - her painted eyes are similar to the original appearance (compared to some pictures I've seen on the internet of these old dolls). Her cloth legs are simply stitched to her body. Her dark brown wavy wig appears to be a human type wig with layers of hair sewn into the cap. Her pretty light green dress may not be age appropriate, and it is a tad big, but it displays beautifully on her. She is also wearing pink tights , white knitted booties and a pink stretch hairband. She will be bringing her grungy little sock doll with her. You could probably Oxy it to make it whiter, but because it's vintage I prefer the original condition. This beautiful little girl is marked on the back shoulderplate: A. C. Co., and she is 25" tall. These compo dolls add a stunning touch to an antique or vintage decor. She would be an excellent addition to an antique / vintage doll collection, or a perfect beginning to one :-)
