This is a vintage Johann Haviland china sugar bowl. The pattern is "Floral Splendor" and stamped with "Johann Haviland Bavaria Germany" on the bottom. It has pretty little pink, yellow and blue flower strands. It has no cracks, nicks, scratches or breaks. I purchased this at a tag sale because I thought it was so pretty. I am beginning to condense and sell some of my pieces.

I wasn't sure about the history of this piece, but I did some research and found the following quotations online. Maybe this will be helpful in the age and description of this piece.

"Floral Splendor is one of the most lovely and difficult to locate of Johann Haviland patterns. I do not know of it being reproduced. It is decorated with a pattern of multi-colored flowers on the Maria Teresa blank. It is among the best of their fine china offerings but difficult to find. I suspect that it is subject to the same variations in saucers and tea cups that the other patterns in this time period were but that is pure conjecture on my part."
(synopsis is from http://www.johann-haviland.com/johann-haviland-gallery.html)

"Johann Haviland, the grandson of David Haviland, started his own company in Bavaria, Germany in 1907 and went out of business by 1924. An Italian firm bought the company and in 1933 sold it to the Rosenthal conglomerate.
Quantities of this inexpensive china were sold at PX's in Germany after WW 2. Several patterns were used as grocery store premiums.
To the best of my knowledge, the grocery store versions that are more commonly found on ebay were from circa 1985."
