SHIELDITE This material has only one source which is a privately held location in Maine. It is some of the oldest material on the planet, approximately 3.5 billion years old. It has been metamorphosed from it volcanic origin of an obsidian into this beautiful greenish hardstone with crystals of a wide variety forming plus separation of metallic elements and since they are not showing any alteration there is a strong belief that they belong, at least in part if not completely, to the platinum group of metals.

Please look at my other listings for more custom pieces
Included in your purchase price is a felt bag (you can request but I do not guarantee a color) to keep your new treasure in. For pendant purchases I also include the choice of either an 18 inch silver plated chain or 30 inches of black waxed cotton cord.

MOONSTONE INFO
Few gemstones have accumulated as much lore and romance as moonstone. This unusual gem with the distinctive milky shimmer has been known for thousands of years, and has been revered by many cultures. Moonstone is a transparent to translucent gemstone with anywhere from a yellow-brown to a blue-white sheen. It is found in Sri Lanka, India, Madagascar, Australia, Brazil and the U.S.A. Milkier looking moonstone is sometimes referred to as Adularia Moonstone, while a moonstone with a higher sheen and that is much denser is referred to as an Albite moonstone.
METAPHYSICAL BELIEFS are that all crystals are very special sources that have powerful healing and transformational energy for all who embrace them. When reading these descriptions in our listings, please follow your own heart and intuition as you know if you feel the energy or not and you should use what feels right for you. Crystal interpretations are not meant as a substitute for therapy, medical advice, or the study of crystals; it is a belief they are an interactive tool to enhance your path of self-discovery and transformation. .

In many cultures, moonstone is strongly associated with love. It is a highly prized gift for lovers as it is thought to arouse tender passion. One legend is that two people wearing moonstone will fall passionately in love when the moon is high. Moonstone is the birthstone for June.
Anyone with an interest in stones has probably encountered a piece of Moonstone. It has undeniable appeal, especially for its lunar associations. Moonstone has many metaphysical properties and its appearance alone inspires a mellowing feeling. It brings soothing security and comfort and can be used to promote inner peace. It is one of the alternative birthstones for the month of June and associated with the astrological signs of Cancer, Libra, and Scorpio, Moonstone is also linked with all the water-signs as it is a stone of comfort and representative of the Goddess.

According to Hindu legend, moonstone was formed from moonbeams. At one time it was believed that if you held one in your mouth during a full moon, you could see your future. In India, moonstone is still regarded as a sacred stone and is widely believed to bring good fortune.

The ancient Romans also associated moonstone with the moon and speculated that the gem was formed from drops of moonlight. They considered the gemstones as possessing those properties traditionally associated with the moon: romance, femininity, intuition, dreams and the emotions.

When working with a stone, it is useful to know something about its scientific nature: what it’s made of, where it’s found, how it’s formed. Our Mother Earth has many facets to explore and we begin by understanding – this involves studying an object’s properties on many different levels.
