Circassian woman is embroidered in slate on beautiful homespun linen that is between 80-120 years old. Her dress is embroidered in pale blue antique silk floss that dates back to between 1890-1915. The porcelain doll arms are from Germany and were dug from the earth from the grounds of an old doll factory that operated between 1890-1920. The piece is framed in a vintage metal embroidery hoop that is 6 1/4 inches in diameter. The piece is backed with gray wool felt and is signed and dated on the back. It hangs with a simple ribbon.

If you'd like to read more about the history of the linen you can check out my blog post about it here: http://marysgranddaughter.blogspot.com/2009/06/look-what-i-found.html
