"Live at the Roundhouse" is a fresh air breeze, blasting away Covid stench. The crowd sounds and bare naked mix bring Aurora's historic Roundhouse into our living rooms--a welcome, needed, earthy, group realism, spilling songs out our speakers and melting cold souls in these solitudinous times. I hear love in the hearts, see sway in the girls, and grit on the floor. Half-drank beers in the glasses, paired to smiling faces and wiggling asses. Recorded just twelve days before America shut down, it's a chi-ful, joyous reminder of just how carefree we could be on February 28, 2020, and how soon, we will be, again. Nine Pete Jive modern classic ballads join one Ella Fitzgerald and two Jim Croce songs. As Jive bends these covers to his quiet will, they submit gently, yielding new sap injected through Pete Jive's inimitable, provocative rasp and flat picking gyrations.
