I've always loved letterpress type but now it's time to destash some of my treasures.

This printing plate is mounted on a wood block (damaged, see last photo) and is unusual in that it reads the "right way" (not mirror image, like it would be for printing). That makes me wonder whether this was used for embossing instead of printing...

The type reads:
Van Dyke Oil Company
Reflection Seismograph Survey

The rest of the plate appears to be a form that an inspector or surveyor would complete in the field.

Great size for display: 5.125" wide x 3.625" tall (0.625" thick at the undamaged part)
