Up for sale is a rare form of found glass. Similar to found Roman glass. The difference of course is not just the age, but, the iridescence. on this glass is more towards the gold aurene and is permanent. Let me explain....Approximately 100 these glass pieces were stored glass negatives in a photo studio. A fire swept through the building causing the silver to vaporize. Normally the silver would have just been swept up in the smoke and vapors. Since there were thousands of these negatives, the silver fumed the glass giving the glass a yellow aurene to rainbow finish on the surface. Each piece is unique and the finish varies. I've tried to photograph it as well as possible although they are much prettier in person. The conditions for the glass to have this finish, not be smoked or completely molten is a rare circumstance. I have a few pounds of this material from a site clean up that happened years ago, but it is now a historical site and no more is available. Great for jewelry work or glass art projects. I actually made a complete foiled glass lampshade from this glass. This is a larger piece app 3 inches long by 1 1/2 wide.
