Soft and luxurious this feather shawl will do double work in your closet. You can tuck it under a collar of a jean jacket to make it more romantic and edgy. You can wrap it around you head, Gatsby style. After dark, you can drape it around your shoulders for an everything on the town. Then, come Halloween, by that mysterious bird of prey! That gothic beauty!

This is a medium length black feather shawl with lace. The lace makes this shawl particularly good for draping and wrapping around the body.

I wear my shawl all the time and get great compliments whether I wear it in my hair or around my shoulders.

A word about lengths and what they mean -

Minis are around 11" in length and are great for little girls or for working dramatically into your hair or tightly around your neck.
Mediums are 17-18" in length and are great for tucking up under a jacket collar or throwing over your shoulders as a cover-up on a cute summer dress. I'm one of those old-fashioned ladies that believe your shoulders should be covered in church. They also wrap well in your hair, whether your hair is up or down, and is great for that burlesque or summer of love look.
Longs are 24" and up. They have enough length to drape across your back, over your shoulders and down a collar. They make a great 1/2 belt or can be thrown jauntily around your neck like a scarf.

A word about dye –

Beautifully rich, dark colored feathers and made so with a bunch of dye. They are not colorfast. When I first started wearing my black feather collar I end up a little bit dyed at the end of the night. Sweat does wonders to help transfer the color from the feathers to your skin. When wearing black feathers try to layer on top of black clothes or your clothes may become stained. Your skin will clean up with soap and water. This effect lessens with time.

A word about fluffiness –

If your feathers ever become pressed and flat, steam gently and put to dry in front of a fan. If you don’t have a steamer you can hang your shawl in the bathroom while you take a long hot shower, at least 15 minutes of steam, and blow dry on the cool setting of your hair dryer.

A word about care –

Feathers are like our own hair, they like a little oil or they dry out. The oils in your hands are sufficient to help hydrate your feathers. Run your fingers through the feathers every couple of months or just wear your feathers around your shoulders next to your skin every once in awhile.
