One of the most beautiful religious statues/figures from France we've run across at My Petite Maison. She wears a crown of gold, black veil covering her hair, dress of dark blue covered with stars, slippers adorned with gold bows and carries crucifix with her hands placed perfectly as a medal. She has a beautiful patina that only time can give this kind of piece that's been taken care for years and years.

The lovely statue is so named, Notre Dame d’Esperance de Pontmain - Our Lady of Hope of Pontmain. Pontmain, a hamlet of five hundred inhabitants, was to become forever memorable, because of a heavenly favor the night of January 17, 1871 and the guarding of Brittany, France.

The Virgin Mary is said to have spelled out "Pray my children, God will soon answer your prayers" and was seen by Joseph & Eugene Barbedette, Francoise Richer, and Jeanne-Marie Lebrosse that January evening, all children.

This beautiful religious piece stands 11 inches high by 4 inches across.

Carries the name of Pontmain at the bottom of figure, as well as the date of January 17, 1871.
