A Yeoman, in Anglo-Saxon England of the earlier Middle Ages (before chivalry developed) was a servant's rank, who often served and fought in local warfare for a king or lord. The term, yeoman, originally meant "young man" to distinguish from a "radman" or "radcniht" ("riding man" or "road man"), who were the early medieval equivalent of a knight or page. The yeoman's rank would change over time, as he would progress into a radman or radcniht, with higher training and responsibilities. Many yeomen were eventually promoted to positions of prominence in his lord or king's household. Later, the class of yeoman became more of a social class, equivalent with a land-owning villager, who was militarily bound to serve his lord.

The Yeoman journal was lovingly handcrafted of soft, acorn brown leather and closes with a strap of the same (sewn into the cover with three tiny X stitches). Its pages were hand torn and firmly bound into the cover using the Medieval long stitch with black waxed linen thread. The journal will lay flat with some use, so you can write or draw all the way into the margins.
