Beautiful antique electrical insulator.
White ceramic porcelain with a metal shift and nut & bolt at each end.

This is a large deadstock insulator that was never used.
It's in amazing condition.
A few minor chips along the bottom edge which are just shelf wear.
Also a tiny yellow bleed from the metal near the bolts... touch of rust.
This is just the effects of age as these are old...
probably 20's or 30's.
From the vaults of the old hardware store*.

Perfect for repurposing. These would look fabulous in lighting fixtures!

*Note: Most of the hardware items I'm listing came from an amazing hardware surplus store in lower Manhattan called Alexander's Hardware. It was a legendary 4 story warehouse full of the most extraordinary collection of antique hardware and bits and pieces of the strangest surplus stuff. Along with hundreds of NYC artists, I was friends with Arty, the wonderful wonderful owner and spent many an hour combing through his warehouse for these items, many of which I've used in my work. I feel certain that Arty would enjoy knowing I am passing these treasures along to other artists. He was as special as all his special odd and curious things and he is greatly missed. A tip of the hat to you, Dear Artie!
