Located in Berks County, PA, Hopewell Furnace Historical Site provided the inspiration to paint this rustic grain room, an example of a 19th century American iron plantation. The light entering the room, so visibly captivating, seemed an invitation to experience what life might have been like during that time. The scale hanging in the center of the room was also a reminder of how goods were purchased - by the penny, or nickel.
