This beautiful patchwork coat is full of the warm deep colors of a nice, hot cinnamon latte---with extra whipped cream! :-) It's got THREE long flowing hems; the middle one is patchworked with the brown colors of the skirt. Silky satin lines the inside of the skirt as well, so it slips and swirls around your legs. The chocolate bodice is ribbed, but also roomy. The waist is lined in non-stretchy tapestry and closes with an extra-long tie. Truly a sweet warm treat on a chilly evening!

The waistband measures 3 inches wide, and is 36 inches around, and does NOT stretch. It is nicely structured and is backed with thick matching tapestry fabric. It is 27 inches from the bottom of the waistband to the bottom of the hem...a nice mid-length coat. The hem is about 14 1/2 feet around, which gives you lots of twirl and swirl.

I purposefully made it too large for me so I wouldn't be tempted to keep it (I'm 5'3" with a 27" waist), so this would be perfect on someone who's about a Medium/Large.

The panels are mostly super-soft merino wool, and are spiked with a bit of cotton for texture and weight. This coat is made entirely of sweaters and knits that have been rescued from thrift stores, so they have been given a second chance at life...kind of like nice, soft, gorgeous zombies ;-) But seriously, when you purchase this coat, you are reducing waste that the environment would otherwise have to contend with, so how cool is that?

I've been making Renaissance clothing for several years, and I find that making these coats is really much more exciting than hand-sewing eyelets on a bodice (although dressing for Faire is also tons of fun)! I strive to make quality garments which will last for years, so I double-check all my seams and hand-sew in all of the thread ends, because, really, who wants to think of tying up loose ends when wearing an awesome coat like this one? ;-)

I want to give a heart-felt "shout-out" to the awesome Kat at Katwise & Lisa Marie at Enlightened Platypus, who have inspired my creations. Check out their shops here on Etsy for tons of fibery eye candy!

Thanks for stopping by Intricate Simplicity, and remember that it's simple to be "YOU-nique"!
