Rainbow Gradient Roving.

Contains British Black Welsh Mountain, and Tussah Silk.

Will spin up to create a yarn that gradually changes colour from red through to purple.

This fibre is not like commercial top or roving. It's fluffy, open, and really easy to draft.

You will get 4 braids, the fibre is triple carded and pulled off in a continuous strip, each braid should change colour at approximately the same rate, but because this is handmade it won't be exact. There will be some variation in the thickness of the roving.

70% Black Welsh Mountain
30% Tussah Silk

100g (3.5oz)

Black Welsh Mountain wool is softer than you would expect for a mountain breed. It is the only wool that can truly be described as a natural black rather than the dark brown of many breeds.

Why not ply it with some of my commercially prepped Black Welsh Mountain, Tussah Silk-

In the final photo you can see some mittens I made using this fibre. I used the commercially prepared fibre for the cuffs, and thumbs. The rest of the mittens took just 50g of fibre spun at DK weight.

For my other colour changing rovings, made in the same way, but with different base fibres take a look here-

Please note, this one of my blends that I can replicate, you will not get the exact braids of fibre shown in the picture, but it will be the same colours, in the same order, made in the same way.

Frequently asked questions about hilltopcloud

Sorry, I can't supply my items on a wholesale basis
Handspun yarn should be washed carefully. All yarn has been washed before it has been listed for sale. I use hand hot water, and fragrance free detergent.
I don't recommend the rinse-free wool washes, they seem to make colours bleed.
Sorry, I can't do any custom spinning at present.
