Raku fired vase with a gold luster glaze and black reduction.
This piece was wheel thrown, bisque fired and then a final fire in a raku kiln to 1800 degrees. At peak temperature the vase was pulled from the kiln and placed in a barrel of newspaper and other combustable materials to obtain the final reduction finish .

As with all of the raku work I do, this piece is not food safe or water tight. It is purely decorative, the function is the beauty. If you would like to display fresh flowers in this vase, simply place a glass cylinder inside the vase and you'll be all set.

The vase measures 8" wide by 9" high.
