1895 American landscape wood engraving of Lassens Buttes, Sacramento Valley, California. This beautiful engraving was published in 1895 in the book "Picturesque America". Illustration by American painter R. Swain Gifford.

Size: Image is approx. 9" by 6.4" and the border is 1.5"

Excellent condition. Paper has a light cream color due to age but there is no foxing. The back is printed but it doesn´t show through.

This is an original old antique print, not a modern reproduction.

About the author:

Robert Swain Gifford (December 23, 1840 - January 13, 1905) was an American landscape painter. He was influenced by the Barbizon school. Much of his work focuses on the landscapes of New England, where he was born. In 1899, he was an artist on the famous Harriman Alaska Expedition.

Some of his works hang in the most prominent galleries in the United States, including the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington DC. (Information extracted from Wikipedia)
