Very Rare 1940s Cole Brothers Circus PISTOL PACKIN MAMA Iron-on Patch

Estimated value: $42.00

Made by NY Novelty and made exclusively for the Cole Brothers circus, this is a hard-to-find iron-on patch sold at the circus for 2 or 3 cents. Many of these were either damaged on the way home or some were damaged when someone attempted to apply this to clothing. Not sure of this still works or not and so I recommend that you place this on the shelf and enjoy.

Pistol Packin Momma was a character the circus used where a pretty lady would come out and she would do trick shooting. Based loosely on the hit song that came out in 1943 during the war. She was part of the Western Theme that the circus added to draw even more people to the circus to see tricks of all types. The same concept was later used by the Ringling Brothers in the 1950s. This item was made and sold just after the end of World War 2.

Came from an original case of these where these sat unused for 60+ years. The same company made the Clown iron-on.

The Momma measures roughly 5.5 inches by 3 inches.
