Woad seeds (Isatis Tinctoria) just harvested from my garden, dried, ready to ship.

The listing is for 1 g, the amount shown in the first three pictures. The seads are very lightweight.

Woad is one of the traditional natural dyes from which blue can be extracted by the process similar to dyeing with indigo. It is ideal for cooler climates.

"Starting from seed, it makes a low rosette of glossy dark green foliage the first season, when it is collected for dyeing as well. Where winters are mild, woad is evergreen; otherwise, it freezes down to the ground. In the spring, woad flowers as early as daffodils, in the same vivid shade of yellow. Massed at the top of a few sturdy stalks, the thousands of tiny flowers soon form flat, dangling seedpods that darken from light green to almost black as they mature."

from a book "A Dyer's Garden" by Rita Buchanan
