Razorbill Egg
Archival Print from watercolor painting
3x4.5" Print | 5x7" White Mat

An egg of a Razorbill, a seabird related to the extinct Great Auk. Razorbills nest on rocky islands in the North Atlantic.
On my first trip to Maine I had the chance to tag along with an Audubon research crew that went out to Matinicus Rock, a seabird nesting island. After an hour on a ferry, 2 hours on a lobster boat, and a rowboat to shore I was able to do a little exploring on the island and walk among the nesting seabirds. This is one of the many paintings I did inspired by that trip. It is a Razorbill's egg that I saw on the island. A fairly large sized egg with a great speckled pattern.

Egg is painted life size. Roughly 2.75 x 2" ( 73 x 45 mm ).
