Vintage 1940s knitting / crochet patterns - Vogue Knitting Book No 26 - Second World War - women's sweaters jumpers cardigans suits etc
FAIR condition - please see note (below) re. condition before purchasing

Vogue's 26th Knitting Book
Published by Conde Nast Publications (London, UK)
Undated but believed to be early to mid-1940s (one of the advertisements features a woman in 'forces' uniform)

Small format softback booklet - 52 pages - contains several colour photographs as well as black and white
Dimensions: approx. 6" x 8 1/2" or approx. 15 cm x 21.5 cm
This is a much * smaller * format than the booklets produced later in the 1940s, due to wartime paper rationing

This edition contains the usual stunning range of Vogue fashion knitwear - women's cardigans, sweaters/jumpers, jackets, two-piece suits, gloves etc. There are also a few patterns for men/older boys as well as crochet patterns (UK abbreviations) for ladies' hats, slippers and a mesh scarf

As was customary at the time, the instructions for each garment are given in ONE size only, though the sizes do vary from garment to garment.
If you would like further information on the contents (sizes etc) prior to purchase, please feel free to contact me

A rare and highly collectible volume. These vintage Vogue Knitting Books are becoming increasingly difficult to source, especially from the 1940s

In FAIR condition. It does have several flaws. The binding is fragile - the cover has worked loose from the top staple and is precariously attached to the bottom staple (there is a tear just above the bottom staple). There are marks, areas of scuffing/paper loss to the front cover (please see photos) plus a missing section along the top edge of the front cover (does not affect text). Scuffing/wear to spine. Cover is a bit grubby. Scuffing/creasing - including a couple of prominent corner creases - to back cover. The centre page has worked loose from the bottom staple. A few small ink annotations in the margins of one page. General age discolouration/tanning. Some creasing and crumpling with the occasional small mark here and there. But the instructions are complete and legible. Adequate for knitting purposes.
Price takes condition into consideration. This is a scarce volume

If you would like to see further photographs (.e.g of flaws) prior to purchase - or if you have any other questions - please feel free to contact me

You are purchasing the ORIGINAL booklet, not a digital copy (and not the finished garments)
