This is an antique and very unusual hat pin. It looks like finely woven hair, but must be thread of some sort. I hope my pictures are good enough to see the details!

If it is some other material, it is still woven like old, formal hair wreath-type tresses would be. It is very interesting in design and very well-made.

Looks like there is a tiny hallmark on cap end; I can't read it.

I'm pretty certain it is sterling; a magnet will NOT attract.

Measures 5 1/2" long

I've had this for over 20 years-I bought it at a thrift-shop in Palm Springs, CA. Same place and time I found the old hot pink wooden necklace I am Listing in a few moments!
