As the author of 8 Gee's Bend quilt pattern interpretations, I took what I learned and brought it into the classroom. First, with No Sneaky Peeky (first quilt pictured here) and then with Improvisational Adventure (orange 9 block quilt), I standardized a way for quilters to be able to cut and sew with the results being the look of improv! This 15 page pdf includes all sorts of tips and guides you in how to make a variety of units from Log Cabins to two-patch slanted rectangles, building blocks to join with others, each one unique. There are no magic numbers. Everyone's quilt is unique, but you can take what's here and begin your own Improvisational Adventure, step by step.
The Orange 9 block quilt (Improv Adventure) was published in Modern Patchwork Magazine 2014, but I include several more pages that wouldn't fit in the magazine for even more tips!
Lots of color and exercises for you to experiment with your own fabrics (the cover of one of the two patterns implies there is fabric included, but that was my classroom pattern cover!). The week of May 11 - 16 at my blog (DebbyKratovilQuilts.blogspot.com) has quite a few tips, photos, and ideas for you to get gentle guidance to just CUT IT UP and STITCH IT DOWN!
Several of these 15 pages are my classroom notes with a LOT of illustrations. Ideas galore! These are the guided exercises that my students had. I have very good illustrations (it's not all just words) with a lot of color.
Your files will be available to download once payment is confirmed. Here's how.
I don't accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations. But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
Have made one of your Gee's Bend kit quilts so look forward now to trying my hand at free-form Improv using my stash!
Wonderful quilt lessons to be creative with.
