This absolutely classic 1930s pinafore has a great waist-fitted shape, open sides to the waist, and open back under the three tiny shell buttons which close to the waist. Two scoop pockets at the hips, wonderful blue & white gingham lightweight linen with lavender and white trim on all seams. Excellent clean condition with a few tiny pinholes which go unseen amongst the gingham pattern and one line of darker color along one shoulder. There is a metal tag crimped onto the back seam under the third button and I believe this was a laundry mark to make sure this pinafore got back to the correct restaurant after being laundered. This pinafore is a piece of pre WW11 history, when waitressing was a career and honorable profession. I still remember a waitress I knew in the 1970s who wore her hair bright red and said to the morning clientele "Howdja like your eggs, up over basted or raw?" Her name was Esther and she was a treat! This pinafore measures 28 inches at the waist and 51 inches in length.
