My greyhound, Phoebe, rippin' it up in the snow:

And a video from a wonderful customer:

Toesties dog boots by The Eclectic Hound are made with a contoured anti-pill fleece legging for warmth and comfort. Two strips of reinforcing hook-&-loop fastener above the paws and knee and hock joints prevent boots from slipping off. Pebbled recycled rubber scuff guard on the toe provides superior traction on icy or slippery surfaces, and prevents wear. High-rise outer sole is made with textured water-resistant lined neoprene. Dogs feel very insecure when they can’t feel the ground under their paws, such as when wearing thick-soled “shoes.” The footie on my Toesties is fully pliable and lightweight for your dog’s comfort, security, and ease of movement.

Toesties also provide excellent protection for injured paws. When I first adopted my retired racing greyhound, Phoebe, she had an injury on her paw that caused her pain when walking on pavement. Unable to find a protective boot for her, I grabbed some materials I already had around the house, hit my sewing machine and Toesties Prototype #1 was born. She walked a little funny at first but was immediately more comfortable and could exercise for longer distances. Encouraged, I spent two years modifying and testing the design (in harsh Vermont winters) to get it just right, and now during the winter, Phoebe won’t even walk to the end of the driveway without her Toesties on. Based on her reaction, I’m excited to offer my boots to all dog owners.

Price is for a set of 4 boots.

Toesties are still fairly new on the market and I'm still working on getting sizes exact. Special thanks to my wonderful etsy customers who have provided very helpful and constructive feedback to help me improve Toesties sizing. Please see new sizing guideline photo and include measurements and breed of dog in the Comments box at checkout. PLEASE MEASURE CAREFULLY. An exact fit is crucial to the effectiveness of Toesties.

***Note: I’ve taken every precaution I could think of to keep Toesties dog boots comfortable and easy for your dog to wear. Nonetheless, some dogs will not tolerate anything touching their feet. I unfortunately cannot accept returns and refund your money if your dog just won’t wear the boots but I ask you to please respect your dog’s reaction and not force them to wear the boots if they don’t want to. That said, most dogs will be fine once they learn to walk with boots. For examples of this and to see Toesties in action, please visit

Frequently asked questions about TheEclecticHound

Collars are washable! I recommend hand washing them in a sink of warm soapy water, rinsing well, gently squeezing the water out (no ringing or twisting please!) and setting the collar on its edge on a folded towel for 24 hours to best hold its shape while drying.

You can use a washing machine, but I recommend putting the collar in a laundry bag or sock first to protect the hardware and the inside of your machine. DO NOT machine dry (the webbing could warp or melt).
Martingales were originally designed for sight hounds, such as greyhounds, whose heads are smaller than their necks and can easily slip traditional buckle collars, but are becoming increasingly popular for all breeds.

Martingales are made up of two pieces: the back strap which contains the size adjuster slide and the martingale loop, which functions by gently tightening around the dog’s neck when pressure is applied to the leash, so the dog can’t back out of the collar. Once pressure is released, the collar relaxes back to its resting position.

Martingales don't open and close but rather are put on and removed by sliding over the dog’s head, then adjusting it down to neck size.

Please contact me for further info about martingales! :)
Collars are adjustable up to several inches. If you’re not sure what size to order, please include your dog’s neck measurement (and head circumference measurement for martingales) in your order and I’ll create a perfectly fitting collar just for him or her.

SMALL: Expands from 10-13 inches
MEDIUM: Expands from 13-16 inches
LARGE: Expands from 16-19 inches
X-LARGE: Expands from 19-22 inches

X-SMALL (8-10") and XX-Large (22-25") are also available upon request. If your dog is in between sizes order up one size for a martingale since it will need to be large enough to slide over your dog's head without hurting him. For a buckle collar, include your dog's neck measurement in the "Note to Seller" box and I'll custom make an in-between size.
YES! If you have special fabric in hand, or find fabric online that would be just perfect for your baby, I'm more than happy to custom make a collar out of it.

You can either mail the fabric to me, or if it's available online, I'll set up a custom listing for you and order the fabric myself.

Please contact me for a list of my favorite online fabric shops or for help finding the PERFECT design for your baby!
