This may be the long lost Thomas Edison Electric Lunar Explorer prototype!! It's said that Edison built this prototype with help from his friend Jules Verne. When it was completed they realized that no one had yet invented a rocket powerful enough to send it into space. When they found out just how far away the moon was (250,000 miles) from the Earth, they also realized that it would take much more electric cords than either of them had on hand! More than everybody in the world had on hand, actually. So they reluctantly shelved this project.

I noticed that in the photos, the metal post that the Explorer is hanging from seems to tilt from side to side. It is actually perfectly vertical. It's just the angle the photo is taken from that changes the perspective.

My 'do gooder' daughter says I have to tell you that most (well, OK, all) of the above is fictitious. As if you didn't already know that. If it bothers you, too bad.

Once I found this prototype, I decided to make a stand to display it on, and add a vintage light bulb to illuminate it with. These vintage style bulbs are the most expensive part of these lamps ($10-$15), and the bulb is included in the price of the lamp. If you want a particular bulb, mention which picture it appears in.

This lamp is part of my 'Found Metal Artifact Lamp' series. But I liked this title better!

The lamp measures 7"w x 9"d x 17"h. Has inline on/off switch.

I have a "what have you got to lose?, no questions asked" 100% of your purchase price, lifetime (my lifetime) refund policy. If you receive it, and it's not quite what you expected, or you ever get tired of it, don't have room for it anymore, whatever--don't box it up and put it in the basement! Contact me, ship it back to me, and I will refund your full purchase price. Think of the shipping cost as the fee for renting it!

I love finding the sculptural beauty in scrap metal, what I think of as some sort of basic life force. If you prefer a more sophisticated look, I suggest 'highdesertdreams', 'BenClifDesigns', 'ElectricPhase', and 'TheDapperLlama'. They are some of my favorites.

A selection of my work can be seen at Samara Studio in Milwaukee, WI http://samaragardenandhome.com/.

And, also at the Hummingbird Art Boutique in Shorewood WI.

I am open to any "offers" or exchanges. Don't be shy! It it seems reasonable to you, it might seem reasonable to me.

And, I also offer a 10% refund to repeat buyers. Multiple pieces bought in one order will receive the 10% refund on the whole order.

If my packaging and shipping cost is lower than what is listed, I will refund the difference.
