Vintage Ernst Haeckel Art Print - Puffer Fish, Box Fish, Trunk Fish and Acantharia
Reproduction of 1904 1st edition volume
Book page from the 1990's

Ernst Haeckel was born in Prussia in 1834. He was a hysician, anatomist, zoologist, naturalist, biologist and artist. He coined the terms phylum, phylogeny and ecology. Although he was trained as a physician, he focused on a career in zoology after reading Charles Darwin's book "Origin of the Species." He studied and illustrated various invertebrates such as sponges, annelids, and radiolarians. He assisted in naming nearly 150 previously undescribed species!
Modern microscopes have given light to the accuracy of Haeckel's world famous prints executed by the artist with utmost delicacy and detail.
