1 little teardrop shaped weed pot vase created and born from my campfire's burning embers last weedend, in a fun alternative method of firing.....pit firing - small scale. After creating the stoneware weed pot, I bisque fired it in my "normal" kiln, and then placed amongst the logs in our back yard fire pit with some organic fuel and coloring oxides. Pit fired pottery is "softer" than pottery fired to higher temperatures, and therefore is more fragile and will not hold water. Purely decorative or for holding a dried weed stem.

No glaze is ued to create the finish, just coloring oxides in the fire that created the irregular patches of color and tone ranging from gray black to rust, white, yellow and hints of plum, all in almost matte sheen. One side has far more color than the other, determined by how the fire touched the piece. The ashes were scrubbed off and the vase then treated with a little Future floor wax to give it a deeper color and a hint of shine to the finish. .

Measures approx. 4 3/4" tall, 2 1/2" wide with a tiny little neck about 1/8" diameter, just large enough to hold a single slender stem.
