This lovely set of tray and coasters
was made in Germany, c.1920s or early 1930s.
It is made of porcelain/china
with a silverplated reticulated edge
on both tray and coasters.
Each piece is clearly marked Germany
and 1913, which is the mold mark, not the date.
The design is a very pretty airbrushed fruit and leaves pattern
with a soflty gray-blue background.

According to research I found on a reputable antiques site,
these were made to serve iced tea and lemonade
when those drinks were popularized by the invention of the refrigerator.

There are some condition issues...
namely a hairline crack across the tray
and two of the coasters.
One coaster has a split in the metal edge as well.

I would be proud to display and use this set in my own home
for it's obvious beauty and age.
