Vintage TV Lamp / Light 1950s Leland Claes Boxer Dog

Jigger’s “man cave” is ready for some football, yours will be too with this handsome boxer dog T.V. Lamp.

“Designed by Leland Claes, a virtual unknown in most pottery collecting circles, his designs are appreciated almost exclusively by TV lamp enthusiasts. Claes was born in Turlock, California on August 31st, 1916. Leland was a loner, and as a result the details of his time as a pottery designer are rather vague, even to those close to him. He designed pottery for Arthur Ball at Ball Art Ware in the late '40s through the early '50s, replacing Howard Ball, who had left to design for Brad Keeler. Most, if not all, of Claes' TV lamps were made by William H. Hirsch Manufacturing, a pottery best known by collectors for their salt and pepper shakers. The Hirsch lamps can be clearly identified by the stylistic "WH" on the back or base. Claes passed away on March 11th, 2000, leaving behind a marvelous body of work and many unanswered questions. Claes lamps are distinctive, many are quite rare.” From TVLAMPS.NET

When the lamp is turned on, the eyes of the Boxers light up, and a nice glow is reflected on the wall behind.

This vintage Boxers TV lamp is in near mint condition: no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some very minor crazing to the glaze on the bottom—very minor, and only on the underside of the bottom where it's marked. The is no crazing on the dogs, they're perfect. This lamp is fully functional and the 8-foot electrical cord is in excellent condition.

On the bottom it is marked: E 21892 WH © 56 CLEAS COPYRIGHT

Measures 12 3/8” tall x 9 1/2” wide x about 7 1/2” overall depth (the actual base is only 5 1/2" deep) . Takes a standard size light bulb.

Jigger Approved!!!
