An impressively large and visually compelling vintage starburst / sunburst clock from the 1960s -- the quintessential statement piece from the mid-century modern era that's perfect for 21st century decor.

Twelve gleaming brass-toned faceted rays encircle this clock's brass-tone dial with deep charcoal-black chapter ring on which are gold-tone hour markers. This modern clock dial is protected under a framed and hinged glass door. The factory-printed "Forestville" name is positioned under the numeral "12."

This clock is sized and designed to command your wall. The clock measures an attractive 28 inches in diameter from metal tip to tip.

The clock was designed to disassemble easily for packing, moving, and shipping -- the rays slip independently over metal tabs on the clock's central element.

This clock has a compartment on the wall side for the clock's movement; the one that was in the compartment was non functioning. It's been replaced with a brand-new, silent, battery-operated quartz movement that runs on one "AA" battery. The black hands are vintage Forestville and have a slight curve to accommodate the glass dome. Very cool looking with the dark chapter ring and brass numbers on the dial.

A new battery is included.

Very nice vintage condition, clean and ready to hang. The metal has some rubs and scritches here and there. These marks of passing time are consistent with clocks that have been generally well-cared for during the fifty or so years they've been on this planet. The photographs accurately represent how the clock appears under studio lighting conditions (which are *much* brighter than most rooms at home.) The photos were taken using two 250 watt lamps (that's bright!) from distances of 24 to 60 inches. The marks of time recede in visual importance when the clock is viewed on the wall (for example, hung over a fireplace) in normal room lighting-- though they are there as you can see in the closeup views (taken at about 24 inches.) Just a reminder that I photograph with more light and at a shorter viewing distance than people generally experience with large clocks hung in living spaces or offices.

The new quartz clock mechanism works silently and keeps perfect time. It runs accurately and quietly on one AA battery (included) that is easy to insert in the brand-new modern quartz movement.

When your clock arrives, just pop in the new battery, set the time to the 1960s, and admire your own exceptionally good taste. :)
