This is such a sweet vintage needlepoint piece, perfect to hang on the wall of a little girl's room decorated in vintage style. It features the image of a little girl with brunette hair held back by a red bow, wearing a red dress, blue socks and brown shoes, putting her baby doll into its yellow and blue cradle. In the background towards one side is a flowerpot with red and pink flowers, sitting on a windowsill, and on the other side a cuckoo clock. At the foot of the cradle, by one of the wheels, is another small doll. The background is a pretty sage green color. The piece was needlepointed with yarn, probably wool yarn. There is no glass front -- you can actually touch the yarn.

This piece is on the large side -- including the frame, it measures approximately 16 inches high and approximately 12 inches wide. On the back a piece of copper wire has been affixed, making it ready for hanging.

I believe the needlepoint portion of this lovely piece to be from the 1930s or 1940s, while the frame and backing are likely more recent (1970s or 1980s). It's possible that the needlepoint was originally meant to be the covering for a child's chair or similar, and was simply framed at a later date. It is possible that the needlepoint itself is from a later date as well, though I do not believe that to be the case.

This would be a truly wonderful addition to any little girl's room!
