Pre-war, early Showa perhaps Taisho era Japan.

Koshimaki is a wrap-around underskirt worn under a kimono.

White with natural brown kusaki zome natural dye.

Kusaki zome is Japanese dye taken from plants, stems or grasses. All natural and organic.

The cotton is hand spun, hand woven. The skirt is hand made.

In my opinion, it is ready to wear. It does have signs of wear. The dye on the outside it darker than the outside. But, it is up to you which way around you wear it.

This would make an original addition to your summer wardrobe. It could also be displayed as a curtain, wall hanging or throw. Incorporate it into your project.

114cm wide
80cm long
