A mod geometric in the sunniest, happiest shade of sparkly maize.

The inspiration for my home goods comes from California coastal and desert living, scandinavian minimalism, midcentury textiles & furniture, and the earthy, organic, mellow vibe of the 60s and 70s.

I decided to make these napkins for a couple of reasons. For looks, of course: I love the texture of block-printing on beautiful fabric. This type of printing yields a rich, slightly raised printed surface with loads more character than screenprinting. And for the earth: not only are they stylish, these cloth napkins are just way more clever and sustainable than paper disposables. Our household loves using cloth at the table everyday. Once you get started, you won't want to go back!

These striking cocktail napkins make the perfect host(ess) gift -- or a thoughtful present at any time of year. But should you be unable to give them up, you might find yourself looking for any excuse to break them out: cocktails (of course!) on the patio, a nice cup of tea in a comfy chair, a delicious afternoon snack anywhere. They're eco-friendly and beautiful -- a natural conversation piece.

My original designs come about from whims, notions and lots of journal doodling in the garden. Then I turn sketches into hand-cut printing blocks and start stirring the ink and cutting the fabric. Each impression is made by hand with care in my smoke-free San Francisco home studio with custom-mixed, water-based fabric inks (heat-set for permanence). Most of my fabric ink mixes feature a bit of metallic sheen, which makes a striking contrast with the nubby linen, the star of the show. If you love linen, too, you know: it's an ancient fabric that's cool to the touch, drapes like a dream and is naturally allergy-free and antibacterial. Such good stuff.
