About the deity:
Norse poetry has it that Mundilfari was father of both Sól (Sun) and Mani (Moon), whom get their names from the astros to make honor to their beauty. The deities, considering that as an act of arrogance, condemn them to traversing the sky every day of the year. It was said that Sól does it every day in her carriage lighting the world with the embers that it produces because of the high speed and helping people to count the passing years.
Being this part of a punishment, they add a handicap: meanwhile they travel two wolves -Sköll and Hati- are constantly chasing them and trying to devour them. Norse culture used this to explain eclipses because of the distance between them, it happened when one wolf was near to catch one sibling. When the animals achieve their purpose, the end of the universe cycle will begin, the Ragnarok.
