"To mate gryphons with horses" has long been a phrase to mean "never going to happen", as horses were a gryphon's preferred meal - not mate. Eventually the phrase inspired the creation of the Hippogryph, the literal offspring of the impossible union of a gryphon and a horse.

While sharing a resemblance to its gryphon ancestry, the hippogryph is said to make a superior steed, as its nature takes after that of its horse ancestry. Some even speculate the hippogryph to be much smarter than a gryphon, thus more easily trained to take a rider.

My little hippogryphs are made of fleece and craft fur, and measure roughly 6 inches from beak tip to rump (tail not included). Although artists interpret the hippogryph in many ways, I based the body mainly on a horse, including longer muzzle than my gryphon plush. The more docile eyes really add to the benevolence of this impossible creature.

I wanted to base the coloring of these hippogryphs on actual horse coat coloration, but I am open to color requests.

Note: Since I do use safety eyes for my plush toys, proceed with caution if planning on gifting these to young children.
