This is a charming set of spring balances. They are no longer accurate scales (but the hooks do move when pulled) but can be unique home decor items or recycled for coat hooks. One reads Landers Improved Balance No 2 New York and is a silverish color (50 lbs) and the other is a very faint brass color and read John Chatillon and Sons Makers New York USA (25 lbs). Both state Not Legal for Use in Trade and they likely were used on a farm. I gave them a light cleaning, but not too much as I don't want to damage the metal patina. These are older items and not mint, so the front and back do show wear, esp. the backs. They are solid metal and have held up well over time, they are wonderful vintage items.

The longest one is just a tad over 10 1/2," from top to uppulled spring. Widest width is just a bit under 1 3/4." The largest one is the John Chatillon one, but is just a bit bigger.
