This chuppah was a group endeavor, for which 40 of the couple's friends and family members created 12"x12" squares. The squares were creative and varied, including quilting, embroidery, t-shirts, beading, fabric pens, and even sewn-on stuffed animals. I pieced it all together, added borders according to the wedding colors, and designed a back, based on the couple's wedding invitation, which was drawn by the bride. The chuppah is double-sided and has a light batting inside so it can be used as a quilt. After the ceremony, the chuppah was hung outside the tent, and people enjoyed showing off their squares and guessing which squares were made by whom.

The process-- planning, sending out squares and allowing time for people to return them, and putting it all together-- requires at least six months. This project works well if your friends and family members are crafty and artistic, and can be counted on to return their squares on time. If you are getting married sooner, please see my other listings for a chuppah that can be completed more quickly. Depending on where you are, we may be able to make an arrangement that will keep the shipping cost down. This is a heavier item.

"A year ago our daughter was married and Nahanni designed and executed an absolutely
beautiful chuppah for her wedding. This two sided chuppah, which was made with
contributed squares by many of our daughter and son-in-law's friends and family, was
the 'talk' of the wedding, so much so that we displayed it following the ceremony at the
reception. Nahanni did a wonderful job, delivered it on time, and put so much of herself
into this. We are most appreciative and would highly recommend her to others. I don’t
think we’ve ever seen a more beautiful example of a chuppah." --Parents of the bride

I design and create custom chuppot using a variety of techniques, including batik, silk screen, fabric painting, and quilting. After your ceremony, you can hang your chuppah in your home to remind you of your special day, use it as a bedspread, or to decorate a wall of your sukkah. Please see my other listings for a sense of the range that is possible.

Contact me and we will create a unique, beautiful chuppah for your wedding.

Please note, I put grommets in the corners of the chuppah so it can be attached to poles. I do not ship poles, but can give advice on length and where to purchase them or cut them yourself.
