This beautiful fur was purchased in the mid 1940s by a lady named Polly Bratton…AKA, Aunt Polly.

Aunt Polly was born in Georgia in 1904, married at the age of 24, to a man that managed a silent movie theater; where Polly spent endless hours enjoying her favorite past time…MOVIES! Then, at the age of 29, Polly, became a widow…

Polly’s new life landed her in Nashville Tennessee and working for the DuPont Corporation, where she remained happily employed until her retirement 35 years later. While single and loving life, 40 year old Polly splurged on a glamorous Mink Stole, to wear while enjoying her worldly travels.

Aunt Polly bought this beautiful garment from the Castner-Knott Company, in Nashville Tennessee, and was made just for her, complete with the initials…P.B. on the brown satin lining. Inside you will also find two front pockets large enough to hold cold hands, and small items.

Aunt Polly took great care of her beautiful fur, and kept it stored in a Cedar Wardrobe, free from, pests, and critters! To this day, 70 + years later, you will find this beauty in pristine condition…all stitches intact, clean, NO bald patches, and absolutely no odors, just clean, fresh, and waiting to be adorning the shoulders of the next worldly lady!

I will give the measurements the best I can…the model is a size 4, this stole also fits me, and I’m a Medium size 6/8 top. The measurements from shoulder to shoulder are approx 20” with a 16” drop back. The two front panels are approx 27” from shoulder to bottom.

Polly’s conclusion…

When Aunt Polly turned 76, Polly ran into her old high school sweet heart, (the lost love of her life) and remarried. Polly’s marriage lasted 18 years until the death of her husband. In 2006, at the age of 102, Polly passed away.

This mink stole has seen a lot of history; do you see a future with it?
