Instructions for Ironing on the Woven Patch

NOTE: this patch has an iron-on backing for temporary adhesion; however, sewing the patch using a needle and thread is recommend as the most secure way to attach the patch to your garment.

Materials/Tools:
-Woven patch with iron-on backing
-household iron
-ironing board
-digital cooking/meat thermometer with metal needle [optional: highly recommended]

Do NOT iron patch onto leather or nylon, or any other material that might scorch from the applied heat. Make sure the garment you are using can withstand the heat by either consulting the garment care label or by testing a non-essential area of the garment.

-Step 1: Preheat a household iron to approximately 270 degrees Fahrenheit (plus or minus 10 degrees). The temperature dial on my household iron (a Rowenta Focus) was set between the "Cotton" and "Linen" settings (Linen being the hottest setting, marked with three dots on my iron) to achieve 270-275 degrees Fahrenheit. There can be large temperature variations between different iron brands, so I cannot recommend a temperature setting for your specific iron. If you have access to a digital cooking/meat thermometer you can use it to confirm the temperature by laying the metal thermometer needle along the edge of your ironing board and setting the iron over the metal needle. I found that preheating the ironing board surface and slightly rolling the metal needle while it rested below the hot iron helped get a faster, stable temperature reading.

-Step 2: Using an ironing board as the working surface, place patch on garment, woven design facing up (the smooth, iron-on backing touching the garment surface).

-Step 3: Place a cotton pillowcase or tea towel over the patch and press the heated household iron down firmly for 30 seconds (do NOT move the iron while pressing; do NOT apply steam while ironing).

-Step 4: Turn garment inside out, and iron the back of the patch for 30 seconds (do NOT move the iron while pressing; do NOT apply steam while ironing).

-Step 5: Let cool for a minute. If parts of the patch can be lifted, repeat steps 3 & 4 above. Note that the (approx.) 1/8" red merrowed edges do not have iron-on backing, so they will not fully adhere to your garment unless you stitch them down with thread.

Seller was so sweet and easy to work with! My original print got damaged during transit and he quickly mailed out another one for me; he even added an extra cute squirrel print for free! Thank you so much, Dan! They’re going to look so cute in our nursery!

I love the 4 prints that I ordered from Dan Tabata. They shipped very quickly and they look just adorable in my son and daughter's shared room. Chipmunks and squirrels are their favorite animals. They are 2yrs and 4 yrs old.
