4 Hand Blown Cobalt Blue Glasses. Tumblers or water glasses with a swirl pattern. There are tiny air bubbles all through out the glasses which is another indication of their age. Each tumbler has pontil marks on the bottom of the glass.

Pontil marks are the rings made when the glass rod that helped hold the bottle while the lip was being formed is broken off. Glass made before 1855 should have this rough, round circle on the bottom.

These are so old, yet so special. With little imperfections everywhere. However, there are no chips or cracks. Each glass is slightly and different in size. But they are all about 4 inches tall more or less, and 3 inches across the top.

"Mr. Blenko was brought to the US by the Rockefeller Foundation to make the glass for the Williamsburg project. He found production in the U.S. expensive and went to Monterrey where he taught colonial-era techniques to local manufacturers, which continue to this day. He then moved to Huntington WV to be close to his dear mountains and proceeded to set up a business with more modern pieces. I own hundreds of pieces of Mexican glass; these resemble some I own which I bought in the 1960s on the Texas Mexican border where I grew up".
