Ken Edward's is an American artists who started a ceramics studio in Tonala, Mexico in a cottage-industry style. My understanding is he is still producing ceramics today, although no longer on Tonala. The work from his company are signed by the artists, each using a different animal or insect as the individual artist's signature. This one is a bird (I think) that appears to include a backwards R.

This pot is a two-handled medium-sized piece in a traditional Mexican shape and style. It is part of Edward's "Buen Gusto" line, which was produced (I think) in the 1970s. It used local clay, traditional shapes and decorations, and local artists. The main glaze is a pale and soft blue and the middle band of decorations are a palate of browns, with a leaf motif circling around the entire pot. The handles also have the brown leaf motif. It is glazed inside and out.

The pot is 5" tall. The foot is 3 1/2" wide and the opening is 4 1/2" wide. The bottom is unglazed and handwritten on it in brown glaze is: El Palomar, Buen Gusto, Mexico and then a bird signature.

This pot is in excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, etc. A tiny bit of crazing, suggesting this lovely urn has some age.
