Truetone – Model D2815 - 1948

What a beauty! This baby screams Deco! It has everything you could want in a great vintage radio. The style just oozes out of this one. I love the push buttons combined with knobs.

This gorgeous bakelite cased radio is in excellent condition. The bakelite is about as good as will be found in an old radio – No cracks, or scratches. The two original knobs are in very good condition. Overall, the appearance of this case is as close to mint as you could hope to find.

Someone said my radio was plastic. So I started researching. It is believed there are two versions of the Truetone with the same cabinet design; the 1942 Bakelite and the 1948 plastic. That info is wrong. Plastic was not available until the early '50's.

Series 'A' and series 'B' are both made from Bakelite; model year '48. While in production, a modification was made to the chassis. Also, the dial scale color was changed. Series 'B' (late year) has the gold dial scale. Series 'A' has the green dial scale.

The D2815 is a great example of the very stylistic radios, that were sold by Western Auto under the Truetone brand during the 30’s and 40’s.

The backlit dial scale is original and mint.

Radio plays well and picks up local stations.

To insure years of safe reliable operation… All paper and wax capacitors replaced with modern caps; RF and IF sections aligned per manufacturers specifications; volume control and tuner parts cleaned and lubricated; all tubes tested and good.

IPod Input:

Just added..

This radio has an added feature – you can plug your iPod, or other mp3 player, directly into the rear mounted jack. Then just flip the switch to select radio programming or your iPod music.

The input is designed and installed in such a way to have absolute minimum impact on the vintage design of this radio set… just a couple of wires connect the iPod signal input adaptor to the tube audio amplifier.

You’ll love the experience of hearing your favorite music through a vintage tube amplifier!

This radio is warranted to work upon receipt. Due to its 65-year age, no additional guarantee can be given.
