Raku Pottery Vase 1970s Black and White. This bowl was given to me as a gift in the early 70’s by a friend who is a potter. Horsehair is applied to the hot pottery as soon as it comes out of the hot kiln and the black squiggles you see is the carbon remainder of those hairs. I love it especially because although it has a contemporary look to it, I can put into any of my early 18th century english decorated rooms and it blends in beautifully. Its time to have someone else enjoy it as I am a potter now myself and am over run with my own pieces. It is in great vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Raku pottery is porous and will not hold water. It is for decorative purposes only and not intended to be used for food. I have used this piece to hold flowers or a potted plant by inserting a glass jar inside it that is water tight. *The pears in the photo are wax.

Measures 4.5” tall x 7” wide at top opening
